2005 Screenwriters Awards - Degrassi Wins!

Degrassi: The Next Generation screenwriters James Hurst and Mike Perlus were awarded BEST YOUTH SCRIPT at the Canadian Screenwriters Awards on Monday April 18, 2005. The winning script was for episode 404 "MERCY STREET". Fellow Degrassi screenwriter Shelley Scarrow was also nominated in the same category for her script for episode 414 - "SECRETS - PART I". Congratulations to all as we look forward to new seasons of amazing work from these very talented writers and all in the Degrassi and Instant Star story teams!

At the 19th Gemini Awards Industry Gala on December 12, 2004 Degrassi: The Next Generation won Best Children's or Youth Fiction Program or Series for the second time and Phil Earnshaw received the award for Best Direction in a Children's or Youth Program or Series for his work on 'Pride'.
